Angeline David Brauer, DrPH, MHS, RDN

Executive Director

Dr. Brauer has served as the Health Ministries Director for the North American Division of Seventh-day Adventists since 2016.   She holds a Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) degree in Nutrition from Loma Linda University School of Public Health and a Master of Health Science (MHS) in Epidemiology from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.  She previously worked at the Seventh-day Adventist Guam Clinic as wellness director and dietitian, and at Johns Hopkins as a senior research assistant.

Rick Mautz, PT, MS

President

Rick is a retired Physical Therapist with his masters in Human Biology from Loma Linda University. He is currently the health ministry director of the Rocky Mountain Conference. His past experience includes Weimar Institute’s NEWSTART program and Hartland Institute of Health and Education. He established the Lifestyle Medicine Department at Feather River Hospital in Paradise California, where he realized the missing element of ongoing support that health coaching provides. He received his coaching training through the Wellcoaches and founded the lay coaching training called Health Partners.

Ernie Medina, Jr., DrPH, NBC-HWC, ACSM-EP-C

President-Elect

Dr. Medina completed his Masters in Public Health and Doctorate in Public Health from Loma Linda University. For the next 21 years, he honed his wellness coaching skills working in the Health Education Department at Beaver Medical Group in Redlands, CA, focusing on weight loss, diabetes, smoking cessation, stress management, and employee wellness. In 2014, he returned to Loma Linda as faculty and is nationally board-certified health and wellness coach through the National Board of Health and Wellness Coaches.

Bianca Radut

Secretary

Bianca graduated from the University of California Davis with a Bachelors in Global Disease Biology. As a volunteer for a student-run free clinic in the small town of Knights Landing in rural California, she saw first-hand the details of how scarce health resources can be in isolated communities. She also participated in multiple research projects, all of which were closely related to human health and physiology. She has worked as an undergraduate major advisor at UC Davis for over three years and was certified as a Health and Lifestyle Coach in December 2020.

Angela Poch

Vice President of Education

Angela is a licensed counsellor & certified life coach.  She has spoken at NAD Health Summits, been on 3ABN, and volunteers with Compassion Health. She has created several self-help courses including how to become a health coach using the Ministry of Healing as well as written several books & cookbooks. As a Level 4 Advanced Therapist & Trainer with the Feeling Good Institute she trains therapists and life coaches to be more effective using the Ministry of Healing and TEAM- CBT* by Dr. David Burns.

Jonathan Brauer

Vice President of Membership

Jonathan graduated from Andrews University with a Bachelor’s in Computer Information Systems and from the University of Maryland University College with a master’s in software development management. He works for the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists as a Software Development Manager. After spending several years figuring out his own health issues he became trained as a Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner which uses functional medicine testing to detect hidden stressors and natural drug-free healing protocols.

Janie Unruh, PhD, MPH, BSN

Vice President of Communications

Dr. Unruh has a PhD in Public Health, Masters in Public Health, and a Bachelors in Nursing. She launched a small business as a Health Consultant and Public Speaker in lifestyle & whole foods, plant-based nutrition. She is also a freelance author on health for the local newspaper. She has a strong history of public health outreach in mediums such as radio, newspaper, lecturing, classes, and program development.

Uche Mekowulu

Coaching Representative

Uche is a Master Certified Health Coach dedicated to inspiring healthy lifestyle habits to promote improved health in clients. He is the founder of Newlifeology, working one on one with clients to help them develop and execute their wellness visions, and work through obstacles standing in their way. Uche conducts seminars, workshops, and group coaching sessions.

Sali Butler

Coaching Representative

Sali has been training community health workers since 2002. In 2010, she was selected as one of 20 health educators to become a certified Master Trainer for the Women’s Health Leadership Institute to build capacity through community collaboration for social change. Ms. Butler has a Master of Public Health Science, a Certificate of Applied Project Management and certification as Personal and Professional Life Coach. She volunteers with health promotion, homeless outreach, fundraising and development for her local church.

Randy Robinson

NAD Treasury Advisor

Randy is the Treasurer/CFO for the North American Division of Seventh-day Adventists.  Directly out of college, Randy was employed as a business intern by the Nevada-Utah Conference. From there, he has served as treasurer of the Illinois Conference, Oregon Conference, Southern Union Conference, and presently the North American Division. All told, he has served in church treasury employment since 1983.

Katia Reinert, PHD, MSN, RN, CRNP, FNP-BC, PHCNS-BC

General Conference Advisor

Dr. Katia Reinert serves as Associate Health Ministries director for the General Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist World Headquarters. She is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Public Health Clinical Nurse Specialist. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Washington Adventist University, a Master of Science in Nursing from Catholic University of America and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Nursing from Johns Hopkins University.  Dr. Reinert has a heart for ministry, and a passion for mission and global health.

Esther R. Knott, MA

Pastoral Advisor
Pastor Esther R. Knott is Associate Director for the NAD Ministerial Department and Director for the InMinistry Center at Andrews University, Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary. In her role, Esther directs the division’s efforts to support local conferences in building a comprehensive, sustainable continuing education system for pastors, with similar standing and expectations that are required of professionals in other fields.
