COVID-19 has uncovered and exploited many of our weaknesses – personal, behavioral, and overall health, societal, and even Public Health. Hardest hit have been the elderly and those with underlying non-communicable disease states. In this segment we shall explore why the elderly are vulnerable and how we can care for them, decrease their risk, and protect them from this disease which for them may be deadly.

In honor of the 125th anniversary of the Visitor magazine, join the Visitor staff in continuing to make 2020 healthy.  Register for the Virtual Visitor 5K or 1 Mile, to take place September 20–26.  Participants of all ages may walk/run at the time and place of their choice.  Registration fees for the 5K will include a downloadable bib, medal, tech shirt, mask and donation to Adventist Community Services (ACS). Participants in the 1 Mile will receive a downloadable bib, medal and will contribute a donation to ACS.  Items will be mailed to participants following completion of the race.

Our donation recipient, Adventist Community Services, is the official community outreach ministry of the Seventh-day Adventist church in the North American Division territories.  The mission of ACS is to serve the community in Christ’s name.  This means serving the whole person, a concept known as holistic ministry.  Therefore, the purpose of wholistic ministry is not only to proclaim the Good News, the word of salvation, but also to demonstrate the love of God to people who are in need.  To learn more about ACS, visit www.communityservices.org.

Burnout!

Topic: Burnout is not simply about excessive workload. A variety of stressors may lead us down the road to exhaustion, negativism, and inefficacy, which are core symptoms of burnout.  It should be taken seriously, otherwise it will be detrimental to functioning and wellbeing, short-term, as well as long-term.  In this talk, Dr. Bergland will discuss what burnout is, what causes it, and how to manage and prevent it.
