Nearly one in three children in America are overweight or obese, increasing their risk for asthma, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, sleep problems, depression, and bullying. Some of the contributing factors are decreased exercise, large portion sizes, too much refined foods and not enough whole grains, fruits, and vegetables. On Monday, Sept. 23rd, Ephesus Academy will be participating in this movement from 8:30a – 11:30a. Family & Church members are welcomed to join us. Please wear comfortable clothing and come prepared to be active and have fun!!!
Health Ministries promotes this event to inspire healthy eating and physical activity within our community, church and school. Our students, parents, guest and faculty will be doing different types of fun inactive games and activities to educate about healthy eating and lifestyle as it relates to the Bible. Also how healthy living contributes to our overall well-being of mental, spiritual and emotional state.
Event runs 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

Abuse can happen anywhere, even church. You probably know someone who has suffered abuse. Pretending that abuse does not exist in “my church, school, community or home” only perpetuates its continuance. Learn what to do and how to help.
The 2019 Summit on Abuse will provide valuable training that will equip and prepare you for when abuse occurs. You can make a difference.
The Summit will be live-streamed on the enditnowNAD Facebook page beginning at 3:00 pm EST.

Silent Screams: Is Anybody Listening

Mental health has become the hot topic in this country and worldwide. Statistics show that depression is becoming the leading cause of disability worldwide. It’s a topic that needs to be intentionally addressed in our schools and churches. Pastors, leaders, adults, youth and children can be affected. Some of our children are battling depression with suicide ideation. Sadly, a 17 yo male teen active in church committed suicide in June. The church has been silent addressing this, but it’s time we start the conversations and educate ourselves to tear down the stigmas and find ways to bring love and support to our family, friends and community.
This conference will bring awareness on mental health issues that impact children and youth. The most common disorders are anxiety and depression. Suicide is alarmingly increasing among children, especially black boys and girls ages 5-12. Learn from mental health professionals about how behavior is communication and what we can do to love and support our children. There will also be the Suicide Prevention Awareness Certification conducted by the South Carolina Mental Health of America.
Schedule
Friday evening – meal and opening with special prayer and anointing and seminar
Sabbath will include seminars, sermon, and certification training at 3:00 p.m.
